THIS (Warwick Lacrosse) GIRL CAN!
Charlotte Hampton is a 2nd Year Engineering student here at Warwick:
'Throughout school, lacrosse had been a big part of my life. I took every opportunity to get outside and throw a ball around. We had one early morning training, one evening training and two PE lessons a week in which to play lacrosse, and I loved it (even if it did mean waking up at the crack of dawn). This would all lead up to the county tournament and then… Nationals!
So, coming to university I was afraid of losing touch with lacrosse, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Just when I thought that playing this sport couldn’t get any better I got to know the club and really felt a part of something. The community atmosphere is like nothing else I’ve ever been a part of. To be able to run off the lacrosse pitch and into a club social means the friendships with your teammates, and even those who aren’t on the same team as you, are really special.
I am a strong believer in the importance of sport. With such a busy university timetable, I was worried that I wouldn’t have time to play sport as well. However, I have found that using some of my free time to get outside and have a run around is a great way to clear your head and get some exercise. Being on a part of a team and the dependence that they have on you, is a great incentive to bring you’re a-game to every practice.
This season has been particularly extraordinary as we are undefeated so far and are on our way to great things. Lacrosse is becoming more well known in the sporting community, so watch this space. Safe to say that it’s a great time to be a part of a lacrosse.'
